戦後、奄美群島が日本に復帰して70年になる25日、地元の人たちが集会を開き先人の苦労を偲んだ。
復帰記念碑が立つおがみ山で、復帰運動を経験した人たちなどおよそ80人が集まり日本復帰の歌を合唱した。
このあと、署名活動や断食など非暴力・不服従の姿勢で復帰運動を率いた詩人、泉芳朗の銅像に花をたむけた。
