２月１９日、仙台駅前のペデストリアンデッキに、仙台市天文台の人々が訪れ、センダイヘンジの太陽が沈む位置を調べようとしていると語った。
センダイヘンジとはオレンジ色に輝く夕日が、通り沿いのビル群を黄金色に染める天文現象で、ニューヨークのマンハッタンヘンジと似ているのでそう呼ばれている。
１９日はセンダイヘンジは確認できなかったが、仙台市天文台では、今後も発生する具体的な条件や規則性を分析することにしている。
