ドイツ、テルトー市のベルリンの壁の跡に植えられた約 1000本の八重桜が見頃を迎えて市民らは春の訪れと“HANAMI”を楽しんでいた。
冷戦時代、ここに分断する壁が作られたが、東西ドイツの統一に合わせ、テレビ朝日等が分断の象徴だった場所を平和の象徴に変えた。
日本の花見の習慣もドイツ市民に伝わり、桜が 咲く時期にはベルリンで暮らす人達が花見を楽しんでいる。
