パリパラリンピック陸上の男子４００メートル（車いすＴ５２）で６１歳の伊藤智也が日本勢では史上最年長で銅メダルを獲得した。
東京大会ではＴ５３で戦うことになって決勝にも進めなかったか゚病気の進行でパリ大会ではT52に戻る事が認められた。
彼は「東京からの３年間は全然無駄でもなかったし、その間一度も諦めたこともなかった。だからこそ、こうやって帰ってこられた」と感慨深げだった。
