世界初の地雷探知ネズミの石像となる「マガワ」をたたえる像の除幕式が、「地雷啓発のための国際デー」に合わせてカンボジアであった。
アフリカオニネズミのマガワは、2016年からの5年間で地雷などの爆発物を100個以上、カンボジアで嗅ぎ当てた英雄で、2022年に8歳で死んだ。
マガワはベルギーの慈善団体アポポで訓練され、活動期間でサッカー場20面分の広さに相当する14万1000平方メートル以上の土地から地雷を取り除くのに貢献した。
