狂言
狂言は、猿楽から発展した日本の伝統芸能で、猿楽の滑稽味を洗練させた笑劇です。同じく猿楽から発展した能と合わせ、能楽と呼びます。
狂言は、能と異なり、ほとんどは面をつけずに演じられ、踊りよりセリフ中心です。狂言は、物まね・道化的な要素を持ち、失敗談を中心とした台本と、写実的または戯画的な人物表現を通じて、普遍的な人間性の本質や弱さをえぐり出して笑わせます。
ただ狂言は笑いだけを描いているわけではなく、夫婦の情愛などをしみじみと描いた情趣あふれる内容や、人間の隠れた本質を突くような作品もあります。
能楽協会のホームページは英語でも読めます。その中には教育的映像もあって、英語でも見られます。また入門者向けの能楽解説の小冊子も各種の言語で売られています。
年二回能楽協会は外国人の為の能楽鑑賞会を行っています。YouTube動画には英語で楽しめる狂言もあります。どうぞ狂言を見るのを楽しんで下さい。
