松江市は島根の県庁所在地で最大の都市です。
松江の最大の見どころは松江城です。現存する古い天守閣で国宝です。特に夜桜のライトアップは綺麗です。他に天守閣に登ったりお濠を船で遊覧するのもいいです。
松江のもっとも有名な外国人に日本研究家のラフカディオハーンがいます。彼の英語で書いた本は松江など日本を知るための名著です。彼の旧居や記念館のある塩見縄手は武家屋敷のある散策スポットです。
松江は宍道湖で取れる七つの魚介類が有名です。この七つを食べるなら外国のガイドにも載っている川京という店に行けば英語のメニューがあり、手ごろな値段のコース料理で味わえます。
