池に浮かぶ巨大なオオオニバスの葉に乗る体験会が富山市で開かれ、暑さの中、子どもたちが心地よい揺れを楽しんだ。
南アメリカ原産のパラグアイオニバスの葉は、葉の裏側の葉脈と葉脈の網目の間にも空気がたまり、大きな浮力がある。
オオオニバスの葉は直径１．２メートルもあり、例年よりも２０センチほど小さいが、富山県中央植物園では体重３０キロ以下の子どもが乗ることができる。
