ニューヨーク市長は22日、地下鉄駅の安全強化を目的にタイムズスクエア駅に2カ月間、ロボット型の警察官＝ロボコップを試験的に導入すると発表した。
防犯用ロボットは360度見渡せる監視カメラがついていて、駅構内の防犯のみならず、乗客のホーム落下も防げるということだ。
ロボコップの時給に当たるリース料は9ドル＝およそ1330円で、アダムス市長は24時間運行のニューヨークの地下鉄で、休憩なしで働くとメリットを強調した。
