今回は面白い研究のニュースです。日本語訳載せときます。
「イグ・ノーベル賞」は、1991年にノーベル賞のパロディーとしてアメリカの科学雑誌が始めた賞で、人を笑わせつつ考えさせる研究に贈られる。
今年の受賞者が発表され、日本からは、小島智隆氏が率いる研究グループが、虫除け目的で牛に縞模様をつける研究で生物学賞を受賞した。
模様を描いた牛は何も描かなかった牛に比べて足や胴体に付いたハエの数が半分以上減ったほか、ハエを追い払う動作も減ったということだ。
