日露戦争
日露戦争は、1904年2月から1905年9月にかけて日本と南下政策を行うロシア帝国との間で行われた戦争です。
この戦争は、日清戦争に勝った日本と不凍港を獲得したいロシアの間で、朝鮮半島と満洲の権益をめぐる争いが原因となって引き起こされました。
戦争は遼東半島や奉天が主な戦場となったほか、日本近海でも大規模な艦隊戦が繰り広げられました。
戦いは次第に日本に有利になり、バルチック艦隊もほぼ壊滅し、アメリカの仲介によってポーツマス条約を結び終戦しました。
条約で朝鮮半島での権益を認めさせ、樺太の南半分、また大連と旅順の租借権、東清鉄道の旅順 - 長春間支線の租借権を得ました。
しかし賠償金は取れなかったので多くの日本人が外務省に不満を持ちました。
この戦争は歴史小説家司馬遼太郎さんの有名な小説にもなっています。また203高地という戦場について映画やテレビドラマにもなっています。
また日露戦争で活躍した乃木希典、児玉源太郎、東郷平八郎といった軍人は各地で神社に祭神として祀られています。どうぞそこへ訪れて下さい。
