世界で最も重い柑橘類としてギネス世界記録にも登録されている八代地方特産「バンペイユ」の品評会が16日、八代市で行われた。

JAやつしろ管内では去年8月の記録的大雨や、その後長引いた猛暑の影響を乗り越え、今年の収穫量は例年並みになったということだ。

今回「ジャンボ賞」に選ばれたのは黒田武生さんのバンペイユで、ギネス更新とはならなかったたが、約4.3キロの大玉だった。
