「奇祭」として知られる福岡県大牟田市の正月行事「臼かぶり」が９日に行われた。
地域の力自慢が集まり、水を入れた大きな木の臼を抱え上げて頭にかぶり、渾身の力で、うしろに放り投げた。
木臼は重たいもので約８０キロもあり、この木臼を投げるこの祭りは、火災よけを願う以外にも力自慢をアピールする場でもある。
