飯山高校の女子生徒3人による化学の研究が、1月に開かれた台湾での高校生の世界的な科学コンテストで1位に輝いた。
飯山高校2年生の3人が開発したMBR＝ミドリ・バイオ・リアクターは透明なビーズでミドリムシが閉じ込められていて二酸化炭素を吸収する。
生徒の一人は「MBRが世界に通用し有名になって、地球温暖化問題に貢献できるようなものになってくれればいいなと思います」と語った。
