ユネスコの「世界の記憶」に、東京の増上寺が所蔵する徳川家康が集めさせた三種の仏教聖典叢書が新たに登録されることが決まった。
これは中国など、12世紀から13世紀のおよそ1万2000点に及ぶ木版の経典をまとめたもので、ほぼ完全な状態で残されている。
これらは仏教学の世界的な基盤形成に貢献したほか、歴史学や言語学など多くの分野で重要な役割を果たしたとされている。
